Autograph letter signed : Paris, to Leonard Smithers, [1899 May 1].

Mentioning that he has just posted an installment of 2,000 words, mentioning that this makes four packets of which Dowson has not had an acknowledgment from Smithers and that he is "in much alarm & grief at [Smithers'] silence." Begging Smithers to send £3 and asking for a further loan of about £8 so that Dowson can discharge his debts in Paris and return to London. Noting "I will make any arrangement you like about the repayment," and hoping to be able to raise funds from his mother's estate upon his return.
